1. Tell us about your background and work?
I am an independent filmmaker. I established my own company 'Dream To Fly Production' where I produced and directed a lot of TV PSA and commercials while at the same time I am also active in creating stories for indie projects that mostly focus on stateless communities stories which are based in Sabah.
2. As an assistant director, what is your main job scope?
My job scope mainly consists of managing the production, not only about scheduling but also to make sure the production runs smoothly as to ensure the director can achieve her vision.
3. As an assistant director, how do you communicate with the director and how do you lead the rest of the departments on set?
We went through a long pre-production process where I and the director prepared prior to ensure production can run smoothly. Director Mui always made sure I’m prepared with a backup plan in case our original plan didn’t work. In leading each department I am thankful for everyone's professionalism, each department knows their work and things just go smoothly because of that.
4. What was the biggest challenge you faced during the production?
I joined the production before the news of the pandemic breakdown so we didn’t really prepare for that. We already started the pre-production when we suddenly had to stop and move the shooting date because of the MCO. We have to cope with the MCO situation which at that time was a very new thing to us.
5. Any other things you would like to talk about?
I accepted this project because I want to learn as much as I can to prepare myself for my own feature film with the guidance of Mui and Ming Jin and with the help from all the department team, it became a process where I was able to discover a lot of new things.
